Hey, I’m Philipp – This Is My StoryFor years, I’ve been obsessed with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). It’s not just a sport to me—it’s a way of life that’s taught me discipline, respect, and perseverance. I love hitting the mats, learning new techniques, and pushing myself in a tough roll. As a true BJJ enthusiast, I’ve always wanted clothing that shows my love for the sport, not just during training but also in everyday life—stuff that’s cool, subtle, and high-quality. Unfortunately, I could never find the right casual gear that captured the BJJ spirit while being durable enough to last. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. That’s how Jitsuwear was born.
How Jitsuwear Came to LifeThe idea for Jitsuwear came from my desire to give back to the BJJ community with clothing that reflects our passion, both on and off the mats. Finding the perfect name was a journey in itself. I spent months searching for the right one, checking countless domains. When I stumbled across jitsuwear.com and saw it was still available, I was thrilled. To me, this name represents BJJ, passion, and the community that binds us together.But the road wasn’t easy. I spent months hunting for the best fabrics—materials that are comfortable, stylish, durable, and sustainable. My goal is to create clothing that you can wear for years, not fast fashion that falls apart after a few washes. Finding high-quality, sustainable materials was tough, especially since I’m running Jitsuwear as a one-man show with a super tight budget. Still, I found suppliers who share my vision for quality and longevity.I’ve taught myself how to create designs, choose the best printing techniques, and build a small business from scratch. Just like in BJJ, I’m learning every day—there’s always a better way, and you never stop growing.
What Jitsuwear Means to MeJitsuwear is my heart and soul. I want to make clothes you’re proud to wear, whether you’re training or chilling. My gear is for people like me: folks who live and breathe BJJ. I focus on high-quality, sustainable materials and designs that capture the spirit of the sport without being in-your-face. My biggest goal is that everyone who buys from Jitsuwear gets clothing that lasts as long as possible—pieces that stick with you through your journey on and off the mats. No throwaway fashion here, just gear that’s as tough as you are.In business, I’m still a “white belt.” I make mistakes, learn from them, and get a little better every day. I’m really happy with what my idea has become, but I know there’s still a lot of work ahead. Just like in BJJ, it’s all about staying committed and improving.
Why My Prices Are What They AreLet me be upfront: my prices are higher than I’d like. That’s because I’m committed to quality and sustainability. High-quality, long-lasting fabrics and ethical production cost more, and as a small shop, I can’t buy in bulk to lower prices. With my limited budget, every step is a challenge. Every purchase at Jitsuwear helps me cover costs and invest in the shop’s future. My aim is to keep prices as fair as possible without compromising on quality.
